Barb Sherman achieves pre-hospital emergency nurse certification
Barb Sherman, PHRN

Barbara Sherman, RN, BSN, CNOR, Emergency Department staff nurse at Cole Memorial Hospital, has earned her certification as a Pennsylvania Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN). The Pennsylvania Department of Health certifies individuals that successfully complete the practical and written skills testing that are approved by the Department.

PHRNs are responsible for the delivery of quality care to all patients transported via an ambulance.

Shannon Work, RN, MSN, NE-BC, Director of Emergency Services at Cole states, “We are so proud of Barb here at Cole. She set a goal and achieved it. Her passion for caring for her community is well known to all that know her personally. Her years of experience as a registered nurse and an emergency responder have helped her prepare for this certification. In addition to Barb’s staff RN position in Cole’s Emergency Department, with her new certification, she will be providing care during transport of patients from Cole to higher-level care facilities in the surrounding area. Congratulations Barb!”
